Don’t rule out a DROID Maxx 3 and DROID Turbo 3

verizon_droid_turbo_2_dropping_soon_screen_cap

Both the DROID Maxx 2 and DROID Turbo 2 could get successors this year according to famous tipster Evan Blass.

Evan Blass took it to Twitter to let fans know that we could see successors to both the DROID Maxx 2 and Turbo 2 this year. The names are expected to keep the pattern, making them the DROID Maxx 3 and DROID Turbo 3. The handsets will likely boast a design language similar to their predecessors, and feature a lift in specs. The bar has been set high this year, so if the two DROID’s want to compete with high-end rivals, they’ll have to include top-notch specs and bring a fair enough price point.

The handsets may launch by the end of the year, meaning they could just be in the beginning stages right now. Once the two devices hit production, we should get some benchmark leaks and glimpses to give us a better sense of what to expect. For now though, take this report with a pinch of salt.

DROID Turbo 2 owner complains about an unwanted green line

Motorola_DROID_Turbo_2_greenline_screen_010916

Are you experiencing screen problems on your DROID Turbo 2? The picture comes from an unhappy owner who posted a new issue in Motorola’s forums. People are complaining about a vertical green line appearing on the display of their new handset.

So far just a few have reported the appearance of the inexplicable green line throughout the display. One owner wrote that the line began widening over time and that he was forced into getting it replaced. Motorola is keeping an eye on the issue, but has not reported anything just yet. Verizon workers are aware and will reportedly replace the device so long as you’re under warranty. If you’re experiencing this malfunction, we strongly recommend reaching out to your local Verizon store and Motorola’s customer care as soon as possible to get a replacement sent out.

Is your DROID Turbo 2 having similar issues? We’d love to hear from you in the comments down below.

Soak test coming to the DROID Turbo 2

verizon_droid_launch_turbo_2_back

Motorola has started to invite DROID Turbo 2 owners to a soak test for an “early preview of a new software release“. Maybe the DROID Turbo 2 will follow in the Moto X Pure Edition‘s footprints and will be receiving a Marshmallow update soon?

We aren’t really sure what this update is for just yet as Motorola or Verizon hasn’t given any other details. It may also be for WiFi Calling like the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge got this week? Once we know more, we will definitely let you know, however, what do you think it could be for?

DROID Turbo 2 leak shows overkill Verizon branding on the front of the device

turbo-2-and-maxx-leak

The upcoming DROID Turbo 2 has been subject to a variety of leaks, giving us all sorts of details–shatterproof display, massive battery, and so on–before the unveiling in a couple of days. This next leak shows just how outrageous the branding is going to be on this device, as we have become accustom to on DROID products.

Pictured above is a gallery of devices. The first three units are the allegedly the DROID Turbo 2, and the following two are the DROID MAXX.

For some reason, on the DROID Turbo 2, Verizon has decided to slap its signature check mark logo at the base device between two split speakers. This is, of course, not the first time Verizon has gone with this in-your-face branding. It was subject to the Galaxy S4 Mini years ago as well:

Galaxy-S4-Mini

There was quite a bit of outrage surrounding this branding on the Galaxy S4 Mini way back when, and we haven’t really seen it since, until now.

Keep in mind that leaks like these aren’t always accurate, so it’s wise to take it with a grain of salt. However, the leakster, Evan Blass, is a credible source and has been right in the past, making us think this could very possibly be the final device. It’s also very similar to the image Verizon leaked just yesterday.

What do you think of Big Red’s giant check mark on the DROID Turbo 2? Is it overkill?
