There are three devices here: the 5 Series, 3 Series, 1 Series. They all have many of the same features, like the 18:9 FullView display, facial […]

Alcatel unveils the Pop 4, Pop 4+, and Pop 4S

Alcatel Idol Pixi 4 series

Alcatel is back with three new phones, the Pop 4, Pop 4+, and Pop 4S. The phones are all about customization and allowing users to make it truly unique to them.

CW Park, Chief Designer and General Manager of Global Design Center at ALCATEL said:

“To consumers in their early 20’s, the POP 4 smartphone is ‘designed by you, inside and out’. The POP 4 series offers a huge collection of covers to fit every personality. It’s the ultimate tailor-made smartphone because customization is always a top priority for us.”

Some of that customization includes the outside looks. They come in three different styles, Hairline-Brushed, Leather, Wood, and Baby Skin. I’m hoping “baby skin” isn’t made out of what I think it is made out of. However, the overall design is a slim phone with curved edges that gives the series a very premium look.

The smallest of the bunch is the POP 4, it features an 8MP rear camera, 1.1GHz quad-core CPU, 5” HD IPS (1280 x 720) display, 2500 mAh battery, has 1GB RAM, and 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot up to 32GB.

Next up is the POP 4+, which has a larger 5.5” HD IPS (1280 x 720) display, the same 1.1GHz quad-core CPU and 8MP rear camera as the POP 4, 1.5GB RAM, 2500 mAh battery, and 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot up to 32GB.

Finally the POP 4S is the most powerful of them all. It has a 5.5” FHD IPS (1920 x 1080) display, Octa Core (4 x 1.8 GHz + 4 x 1.0 GHz) CPU, 13MP rear camera, which features 1080P video capture and playback, the other two can only do 720p playback due to their screens, 2GB of RAM, 2960 mAh battery, and 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot up to 64GB. It also has a few additional features over the other two, features like a fingerprint reader, fast charging, and 4G LTE Cat 6, the other two only have 4G LTE Cat 4. This means it is capable of double the 4G speeds.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 will power the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4

snapdragon-650-652-feature_0

Qualcomm just recently made a statement about renaming their 618 and 620 chips to now be called 650 and 652. They said they did this because the chips were much better than the others in the same line and needed greater number names to show that.

At the time of that announcement there were no phones with the new chips inside them. However, we have reason to believe that the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4 will be the first device to feature the new chips. GFXBench testing has revealed the device will have a 5.5-inch 1080 display, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 16MP camera, Adreno 510 GPU, and a Snapdragon 652 octa-core 1.8GHz CPU.

The benchmarks also show that the OneTouch Idol 4 will produce a 5.5 fps frame rate on the Car Chase offline test. This beats many other phones like the HTC One M9, Yu Yutopia, Sony Xperia Z3+, and others. They scored 5.1 fps or lower.
