Max will stream ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ ‘Killing Eve’ and other AMC+ shows

Max, formerly known as HBO Max, will give subscribers access to several AMC shows, at least for a limited time. The streaming service has struck a deal with AMC to feature some of its more recent programming from September 1st to October 31st. According to CNBC and Variety, their deal encompasses over 200 episodes from titles that include Fear the Walking Dead, Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire and Killing Eve. AMC will even make more of its shows available through Max this fall.

While the network has its own streaming service called AMC+, it’s been struggling to make money off it and to keep up with rival providers. When company chairman James Dolan sent a memo to staff members in the midst of layoffs last year, he wrote: “It was our belief that cord cutting losses would be offset by gains in streaming. This has not been the case.”

AMC’s programs will be marked as such on the Max app and will be listed in a tab labeled as “AMC+ Picks on Max.” They will be available to both ad-free and ad-supported Max subscribers, though the AMC+ titles will reportedly not include commercials and ads. HBO EVP Meredith Gertler said “[t]he AMC+ collection pop up is an excellent example of how [the company] can use innovative strategies to add value to [its] content offering.”

The parties have yet to announce the other titles arriving on Max this fall, but CNBC says they will not include AMC’s biggest shows, such as Mad Men and The Walking Dead. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, which also won’t be making their way to Max, are already licensed to Netflix.

Apple will stream the first episode of ‘Foundation’ on YouTube

Late last month, Apple uploaded the debut episode of Silo to Twitter to promote the show's season one finale. Now it's doing the same with its other tentpole sci-fi series. Starting Monday, you can watch Foundation's first episode on YouTube ahead of season two'sJuly 14th premiere.

Apple's live-action adaptation of Issac Asimov's classic novel series of the same name premiered in 2021 following a pandemic-related production delay. As 9to5Mac notes, you can already watch the first episode of the series for free on Apple TV, but that requires access to the app and not everyone might want to install Apple's streaming service on their smart TV. Season two of Foundation sees some of season one's original cast, including Lee Pace and Jared Harris, return. Filming of season three is rumored to be already underway. In the meantime, you can watch the show's first episode on Monday at 2PM ET, followed by a live Q&A with showrunner David Goyer.

Apple’s free My Photo Stream service will shut down on July 26th

Apple plans to shut down its My Photo Stream service on July 26th, 2023, the company announced on Friday. The free service has been available since the release of iCloud in 2011. You can use My Photo Stream to upload the last 30 days of images and videos – up to a limit of 1,000 – from your Apple devices to iCloud. My Photo Stream predates iCloud Photos and gave Apple users a way to access their images and video clips on more than one device. Notably, content uploaded to iCloud through My Photo Stream do not count against your iCloud storage cap, though they’re not saved at full resolution.

In a support document spotted by MacRumors, Apple says My Photo Stream will stop automatically uploading photos to the company’s servers on June 26th, 2023. At that point, your photos and videos will remain on iCloud for 30 days until the official shutdown on July 26th. Since every image and video uploaded to iCloud through My Photo Stream is stored in its original format and resolution on at least one of your Apple devices, you won’t lose any cherished memories as part of the shutdown process. That said, if you want to have access to a specific image on a particular device, Apple recommends you save it to that device’s Photo Library before July 26th.

On iPhone and iPad, you can save an image from your My Photo Stream by opening the Photos app, navigating to the My Photo Stream album, selecting the photo you want to save and then tapping the Share button to save it to your Library. Apple ends the support document by noting, “iCloud Photos is the best way to keep the photos and videos you take up to date across all your devices and safely stored in iCloud.”

DirecTV users can now watch Ted Lasso without buying extra hardware. The television provider announced today that the Apple TV+ app is now available to install on the company’s DirecTV Stream box.

This is the first time Apple’s streaming network has been available on DirecTV Stream, a multipurpose device for subscribers that supports live TV, streaming apps, on-demand content and DVR recordings. The satellite provider launched the device in 2020; subscribers can rent it for $ 20 per month, and it’s bundled with some premium plans. In addition, it includes a remote control with access to Google Assistant.

The Apple TV+ app will include the iPhone maker’s original content like Ted Lasso, Severance and CODA, and access to Apple’s broader library of rentals / purchases for television series and movie rentals. Additionally, it includes in-app support for premium add-ons like AMC+, Paramount+ and Starz. The app is widely available on other streaming devices, including PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, Roku, Fire TV, Google TV and smart TVs from Samsung, LG and others.

For the first time ever, YouTube will keep the cameras rolling for Coachella Weekend 2 with the exclusive second weekend live stream of the festival! After a record-breaking Weekend 1 live stream earning over 82 million live views — an increase of over 90% compared to views in 2018 Weekend 2 will feature “Coachella Curated,” a new curated live stream of performances sponsored by Pantene & CALVIN KLEIN in the U.S., and Garnier and Coca-Cola in Canada. YouTube is making sure no one misses out on the action, bringing all of the “can’t miss” moments from the desert to music fans all over the world through the immersive live stream available to fans wherever they are.

These traveling tales, filmed on six continents with festival founder Paul Tollett, offer a unique look at the international energy that comes together on the Empire Polo Grounds before beaming back out via YouTube.

Here’s how you can stream the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs

nfl_football_tunein

The NFL Playoffs are starting with games this Saturday and Sunday, two days in which you might not be able to sit in front of a television and watch. Wherever you are (assuming that’s in the United States), you’ll be able to stream the weekend’s slate of action between eight of the league’s top teams.

We’re telling you how to stream all four games of the Wild Card round.

  • Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texas (4:35PM ET on Saturday, January 9)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals (8:15PM ET on Saturday, January 9)
  • Seattle Seahawks @ Minnesota Vikings (1:05PM ET on Sunday, January 10)
  • Green Bay Packers @ Washington Redskins (4:40PM ET on Sunday, January 10)

Although the options are vast, all of these (except CBS’) require television provider credentials. So you’ll need an active account with a television provider to successfully log in and stream games. TuneIn is probably you’re best bet if you can’t be in front of a television and lack an account with a television provider. The audio streaming service signed a deal back in October to give TuneIn Premium subscribers radio feeds to each and every NFL game. Just fork over $ 7.99 per month to enter and TuneIn will also give you MLB and Barclays Premier League games in addition to free NHL games.

People outside of the United States can purchase NFL Game Pass to stream the games internationally.

Have any picks to win this weekend? Tell us in the comments section below. We’ll see if you’re a real NFL Nostradamus.
